Capt. Scott Whitehurst of On The Bite Fishing Charters shows off a flounder he caught on a gold croaker on a recent trip.

Reports of pompano and whiting showing up near Navarre and South Walton beach area are coming in. Live and frozen sand fleas and shrimp are the top baits. On Okaloosa Island pier, the water is clear and calm with reports of flounder, bonito and sheepshead coming in.

Flounder are the hot ticket fish right now with folks catching them in good numbers around the Bridge Rubble, inshore barges and reefs. Anglers are catching them on minnows, pinfish and jigs. The redfish are showing up around Crab Island and can be caught using live shrimp and bull minnows. With the cooler temps, the trout are starting to move in to the mouths of the rivers and bayous.

The amberjack and grouper bite is still good on the edges. Party boats out fishing are coming in with good catches of mingo and white snapper along with a few grouper. King mackerel bite is still good, but as the weather cools off they will be moving offshore.
