Under sunny skies, the water is smooth and stained at the Okaloosa Island Pier Tuesday morning. In the last few days anglers have been reeling in flounder, sheepshead and an occasional redfish. Live shrimp or fiddler crab work well to lure in the sheepshead. A few pompano are showing up in the surf as well as redfish. Sandflea or shrimp are good baits to try.

Sheepshead is the ticket right now with folks catching them near the jetties, Destin and Mid-Bay bridges. Live shrimp, fiddler crab and oysters work well if you can find them. There are still some flounder to be found on the inshore wrecks. Bull minnows, live shrimp or a grub work well for bait.

Amberjack are biting well near the south edge. The charter boat Anastasia brought in a dozen on Monday, all the law would allow – which is one per angler and must be 30-inches to the fork to keep. Mingo, white snapper, triggerfish and red snapper are biting good on cut squid and Boston mackerel. Offshore near the rigs, yellowfin and blackfin tuna and a few wahoo are showing up.
