Fudpucker's Summer Slam set to hit the water Saturday

Special to The Log

The first-ever Fudpucker's Summer Slam fishing tournament is scheduled for this Saturday.

The captain's party is from 6-8 p.m., July 11 at FudShucker's on Okaloosa Island, and all entries/boats must be represented at the party. Fishing may begin anytime after the conclusion of the captain’s party. Weigh-in will be from 4-6 p.m. on the Okaloosa Island on the back porch at FudShucker's STeam Shack and Raw Bar on the water at Fudpucker's.

Fudpucker's will have six slips designated for docking of boats entered in the tournament and they will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

Fish divisions are red snapper, king mackerel, mahi mahi and wahoo. There will be a first, second and third place awarded for each species, with a payout of $500, $250 and $100, respectively.

There is also a Ladies Award for the largest red snapper and king mackerel. They will win a $200 shopping spree courtesy of Fudpucker Trading Company.

Fishing poles, courtesy of Half Hitch Tackle, will be awarded to the first, second and third place Junior Angler for each species.

There will also be Mystery Awards handed out. A $250 "mystery weight" award will be given for both red snapper and king mackerel to the boats weighing in the fish that comes closest to the weights established by the Rules Committee. Every boat has a chance to win.

An awards ceremony and fish fry at FudShucker's is slated to begin at 7 p.m., Saturday.
