Pier/Surf

Under partly cloudy skies, the water is fairly clean with a 1-2 foot wave rolling in at the Okaloosa Island Pier. In the last few days anglers have been catching Spanish mackerel, redfish, bluefish, hardtail, and tarpon and skip jack. Now that the water is clearing up some, pompano and whiting there are a few pompano and whiting showing up in the surf. Shrimp, sandfleas or jigs work well for bait.

Inshore/Bay

The speckled trout and mangrove snapper fishing has picked up some. Inshore Angler came in with a nice catch of specks and snapper on Monday caught in the bay. Redfish are still on the flats and around the deeper docks. A few flounder and sheepshead are being caught around the bridges.

Offshore/Bottom

Trolling live bait for king mackerel over the broken bottom has been the hot ticket on the short trips the last few days. Other usual suspects hitting the docks include amberjack, mingo, scamp, white snapper, lane snapper, and red grouper and gag grouper. Remember triggerfish is closed in federal waters. No reports from bluewater fishing.
