Rodeo Rod and Reel Report - Jan. 26-30
Pier/Surf
The sun is out, but the wind is blowing at the Okaloosa Island Pier Tuesday morning. The water is rough and muddy with waves between 2 and 3 feet. In the last few days anglers have been pulling in redfish and black drum.
Inshore/Bay
Sheepshead has been the hot ticket of late and the best spots are around the bridge and docks in the harbor. Try using a fiddler crab or oyster for bait. The redfish bite is also good. Look for the diving birds or try trolling a stretch Rapala lure near the bridges or around the drop-offs. And believe it or not, there have been reports of pompano and Spanish mackerel being caught in the harbor.
Offshore/Bottom
It's been a bit cold the last few days, but the fish are still biting. Anglers out bottom fishing are pulling in mingo, white snapper, red snapper, triggerfish, scamp, grouper, amberjack and lane snapper. No reports from offshore.
