Ling-a-ling ling … it’s the cobia update

Dawn Kincaid shows off a 64.7-pound cobia she caught Saturday on the Papi with Capt. Kevin Moak. Her catch was the first entered in the Cobia World Championships.

Cobia tournaments are in full swing now with the Cobia World Championships at Harbor Docks getting under way this past weekend with more than 80 boats in the hunt for the prized ling.

The first was a 64.7-pounder pulled in by Dawn Kincaid on Saturday who was fishing aboard the Papi. Her catch is also leading in the Ladies World Championships.

The Instigator also came in Sunday with a 60.4 pounder.

However, the Full Pull with Capt. Chris Wagner had the most cobia weighing more than 50 pounds on Sunday. They weighed  in three fish at 59.6, 55.3 and 52.3 pounds. Andrew Wagner caught the 59.6-pounder to get on the board.

The Destin Cobia Tournament at HarborWalk Marina is also in full swing.

Topping the Overall Division as of 3 p.m. Monday was Full Pull with a 59.8-pounder caught by Chris Wagner. In second was a 59.4-pounder caught on the Instigator by Josh Redding.

In the 30-foot and Under Division, Howell Phelps is leading with a 39.9-pounder caught on the Decoy.

Leading the Peewee Division is a 28.2-pounder caught by Landon Teems on the Sea Fix.
