Country Girl brings in largest cobia in Shootout

Out of 82 fish weighed over two days, the crew aboard the Country Girl pulled in the largest cobia, a 79.7-pounder, to win the 15th annual Hog’s Breath Cobia Shootout that wrapped up Saturday evening.

Johnathon Hartsfield pulled in the 79.7-pound cobia, the largest for Day 2 and of the tournament.

The Papi, with Capt. Kevin Moak at the helm, brought in the biggest cobia on Day 1, a 70.8-pounder. The Papi also won the “Big Three” with three cobia weighing 70.8, 69.8 and 48.7 for a total of 189.3 pounds.

Placing second in the “Big Three” with a total of 183.3 pounds was Overdose.

Quick Time came in third in the “Big Three” with 180.9 pounds of cobia. Pat Ivie, fishing aboard the Quick Time, placed third overall with a 74.1-pound cobia.

Second place overall was Justin Morris with a 77.8-pounder caught aboard Controlled Chaos.

Top three winners in the Calcutta were Quick Time, taking home $31,500; second, Papi, $15,750; and third, Papi, $5,250.

During the two-day tournament, 52 fish were brought to the scales on Friday and 30 on Saturday.
