Hey Baby rises to the top in Triple Crown

After the second leg of the Emerald Coast Cobia Triple Crown, the Frank Helton Crab Cruncher Classic, the Hey Baby is sitting in the driver’s seat with 433 points.

The Emerald Coast Cobia Triple Crown is a new tournament series in which three of the largest Cobia Tournaments along the Emerald Coast have teamed-up to promote cobia fishing along Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast and to crown an undisputed champion of cobia season. The first leg of the Triple Crown was the Outcast Cobia Invitational, held at Tailfin’s Alehouse from March 30 through April 1. After that tournament, Sweet Caroline was in the lead with 273 points, followed by Surreel with 234 points and She’s the One with 181 points.

But after the Crab Cruncher this past weekend, the current Triple Crown standings are as follows:

First place: Hey Baby, 433 points

Second place: Surreel, 347 points

Third place: Sweet Caroline, 323 points

Fourth place: Flat Dangerous, 322 points

Fifth place: She’s the One, 231 points

The third and final leg of the Emerald Coast Cobia Triple Crown will be the Boshamps Flathead Classic held April 19-23 at Boshamps Seafood and Oyster House.

The Emerald Coast Cobia Triple Crown champion will be announced April 23 at the conclusion of the final tournament. The winner will receive $10,000 in prize money.
