Hey Baby, captained by Destin’s Charles Morgan, has been named the champion of cobia season after winning the first-ever Emerald Coast Cobia Triple Crown, a new tournament series created to promote cobia fishing on Northwest Florida's Gulf Coast.

Three of the biggest cobia tournaments along the Emerald Coast, Harbor Docks Crab Cruncher Classic, Boshamps Flathead Classic and Outcast Cobia Invitational, teamed up this year to create the 2017 Cobia Triple Crown. The winning boat was determined from totaling points accumulated in each sanctioned tournament’s final standings, as well as any bonus points earned throughout the series. Boats that were signed up for any of the three tournaments were automatically entered into the Triple Crown.

Hey Baby took over the lead in the Triple Crown after winning both first and second place in the Harbor Docks Frank Helton Crab Cruncher Classic, with their largest fish weighing 83.4 pounds and 72.1 pounds. That lead proved too much to overcome, as they were officially announced the Emerald Coast Cobia Triple Crown champions at the conclusion of Boshamps Flathead Classic, taking home $10,000 in prize money.

The 2017 Emerald Coast Cobia Triple Crown final standings are as follows:

First: Hey Baby – 483 points

Second: Surreel – 453 points

Third: Flat Dangerous – 435 points

Fourth: Sweet Caroline – 427 points

Fifth: Click Through – 382 points
