Big John dominates in Summer Slam

Out of 24 boats participating, Capt. Todd Allen and his crew aboard the Big John are dominating in the Summer Slam at the Boathouse Oyster Bar.

The Big John leads in the federal category of the Red Snapper Division with a 26 pounder. Big John also leads in the Ladies Division with a 20.2-pound red snapper and the Junior Division with a 10-pound red snapper. In the Pounders Division, which is running tally of your largest red snapper and grouper each day, the Big John leads the federal boat category with 351.2 pounds of fish since June 1.

The state boat out in front in the Pounders Division is Capt. Josh Glidden aboard the Just Reel with 88.40 pounds and the top private boat is the Sea Bandit with 85.2 pounds of fish.

Top state boat in the Red Snapper Division is the Malia Ann with a 17.2-pounder. Capt. Forrest Dalton on the Sea Bandit leads the private category with an 18 pounder.

In the Gag Grouper Division, top federal boat is Capt. Matthew Champion aboard the Champion Ship with a 46.2 pounder. Just Reel leads the state boats with a 11.6 pounder and Fifty Fifty is tops in the private boat category with a 9.4 pounder.

Capt. Casey Godwin aboard the Suzie Q is still holding down first in the grouper category of the Ladies Division with a 14.2 pounder.

Weigh-ins are daily from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boathouse Oyster Bar. The tournament goes until Aug. 9.
